Reading Week.

UKSSC- SUKA's CNY Dinner
"Shark's Fin"- tasted like colgate to me though.

Some of the girls of my table singing BSB's I want it That Way on stage

Yups, the emcee dressed up as the God of Fortune. Which really made the atmosphere so much fun (:

The girls of my table. We won the Yumseng competition (yeah, it was the battle of the loudest.)

Yes there was a couple of bottles of free wine (:

Everyone's attacking the food.

Andre's Acappella group. And yeah, they were good (:

Me, Meifang and Xinyi (:

Elvina (who is seriously a bimbo),Raehui and I

Lion Dance!

Me and Miche and her chinese dance fan

It's the start of a new term, and I think I havent done a good job in starting it properly, despite my resolutions to work -alot- harder for this module and not to mess it up like what I did for circulation and breathing. I pretty much slept through most of the lectures and came really late for dissection cos I forgot to bring my ID card and had to go back to get it.
But i guess its not too late to start today right! Whoever says that starting afresh must be on a monday or the first day of school right!

Anyway, UCL just had a reading week, though for the medics its slightly shorter because we had exams on the first 2 days (which im pretty sure I have failed, sadly). I'm rather glad that I stayed in London, cos it meant a lot of rest for me. (I didnt wake up before 1pm on any of the days. In fact, I got up at 7.45pm on Wednesday, meaning that i pretty much didnt get much sunlight for most of the week.)

And also, I got to catch up with RaeHui, in fact so much that Im probably getting sick of her :P But she was one of those rare few who didnt exploit the chance to go travelling, so I didnt have much of a choice when finding company since no one else was in town anyway. Which explains why, we are now mad enough to be planning a weekend getaway to possibly Barcelona, Brussels or Sardinia. Or basically anywhere that has cheap flights.

Saturday was spent having dinner and playing Mahjong and pool with the medics, which is rather nice in a way. 'Cos the sushi that miche made was brilliant, and it was nice just bumming around, doing something else other than sleep, eat and youtube (which is pretty much what Im degenerating into). And im really jealous of Eejean's hall, cos it has a nice common room, and tv room and her room is big and new and ensuite. But no complaints, since she is paying 40pounds more per week than me, and I dont think I would be able to afford that extra burden. The fact that Im getting used to the pound is already worrying me a lot, I think I have stopped converting, which is bad news ... for my dad.

Sunday was really wonderful, cos I pretty much let myself sleep till 3.30pm (since its the last day of reading week), and then went for Singapore UK Association (SUKA)'s CNY dinner at Phoenix Palace after that. Apparently it was the 2nd best Chinese place in London, according to my senior, which is sad. 'Cos i think there was wayy more restaurants in singapore that can beat it hands down, be it in terms of service or quality of food. But for 15pounds, I have no complaints cos its really rather good for London standards (hmms, wonder if Im sounding rather patronizing and picky), plus the programme was really good, and I loved the atmosphere during the dinner. In fact, my table won the Yumseng competition, and everyone claimed that it was my voice that was the loudest. I sincerely hope Im not known as The Screamer, it would be highly embarrassing.

my baby brother.

I'm talking to my brother now, and its been quite a long time since i last had such a long conversation with him, even if its on MSN. And it is shocking me quite abit that my baby brother is growing up. He is having his own life now, and he is having the rebellion streak now, not listening to what mama says and coming back late at night (for a jc student at least).
It worries me A LOT, but i guess its all part of growing up. He tells me things and I see where he is coming from ('cos i used to think like this too) but I know that whatever I say to advise him otherwise wont work, cos he has to be go through everything to get what I mean. But i dont really want him to go through those unnecessary stuff that I had gone through?

So i guess all I can do is pray that there would be good luck following him all along through his JC life.

And i really hope he doesnt end up like me, with loads of regrets (although I would admit that i do have things to rejoice about!). Hopefully he would have a great, fun and memorable JC life with wonderful results ... and hopefully some kickass scholarship!

Oh screwed.

I slack and I feel bad,
And now i mess up my test and I feel worse.
Its so gonna be the last damn exam that Im gonna fail I swear.

Ok, back to work.
Undone sociology, embryology, foundation and immunology.
Maybe death might just be a brighter option.

And it's really 新年快乐 (:

The surprise! And you know you are singaporean when stuff like this make your day (:

She's so adorable, she reminds me of myself.
HAHHAA. Who else can it be? (:
I love you loads babe!

I feel slightly guilty,
But very happy ((:

I decided to give myself a break today, (whoever mugs during CNY!)
and watch Kang Xi late into the night (or this morning to be more precise),
And then sleep in late (I didnt wake up till my parents called from home.),
And miss PDS. (we deserve a holiday dont we!)
But i guess once in a while,
we should be allowed to be naughty, if it makes us feel good,
especially when its Chinese New Year!

Anyway, I'm feeling really happy (and maybe bordering on being high) now,
'cos my maid is discharged from the hospital (though she does have to go back for further checkups. Apparently she has some problems with her intestines. Im praying that its nothing serious.),
And my grandmother sounds very happy when I called her just now, (and i cant say how much this has made my day)
And I received wonderful gifts from my favourite bimbo prommie this morning, (the best thing that has happened to me today! and the best gift i have received ever since I came!)
And a card from ah xiu, ( Babe im missing you loads! I'll see you soon in Easter!)
And many well wishes from the beautiful sunny island set in the sea.
-
Suddenly, spending CNY so far away on another continent without all the goodies and silly stephen chow shows and bumming around with my cousins aint that bad anymore.
And as i type, Im stuffing my face with the pineapple tarts (yum!) and durian egg roll (yummier i swear!) and egg tarts and steamed salmon,
Calories? WHO CARES, ITS THE NEW YEAR ((:
I'm quite looking forward to steamboat dinner with the birmies tonight,
Looking at the proposed spread of food is making me drool already.
I cant wait!
-
*I wish I dont have to go for SSC but i already ponned last week :( Otherwise, I really would just not go for any lessons today, and watch old shows on youtube and enjoy the festive season!*
-
So to the people in back in the most beautiful country in the world,
新年快乐,万事如意,身体健康,事事顺利!
(And of course, my wellwishes and love extends to those in Japan and Aussie and UK too!)
----------------------------------------------------------------
PS.
Shao: Thanks for the well wishes! Hope that your CNY is going well with loads of angpows :P I miss you loads!

Chinese New Year and Cooked Salmon

I remember when I was young,
My teacher told me stories about Chinese New Year,
And how everyone in the family will rush home for reunion dinner.
But i guess, sometimes there are exceptions,
When it costs 2000bucks to get home, the dinner will have to go :(

So I spent 10pounds/30bucks at sain's again,
Buying salmon and plums and seafood crabsticks,
to celebrate CNY
alone.

But the weather is wonderful,
and Im not feeling tired despite the lack of sleep,
and my soya sauce salmon from the microwave tasted good.
I think its God's way of consoling me :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

One more week to the end of formatives,
And the it would be guilt-free slacking and ebaying for me.
Last night, i realised how sad it was when I wanted to treat myself to a hare-and-tortoise-dinner after exams,
and I didnt have anyone to ask.
So maybe I would just curl up in my bed,
Listen to Mika,
and read the books that amazon sent me.
Like this I would be able to save the world with Peter,
and learn how to ... HAHA
Pick up girls.
(And i heard that The Game has been turned into a movie and was released in Asia on 31st January.)

-------------------------------------------------------------

The reason why beauty pageants are worth watching:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=fQKNvPn3V-8

She makes americans who cant locate US on the map look smart. Well done.

What a Ratty Night.

For those who are as deprived as me when it comes to Asian entertainment news,
this is the latest big thing that is hitting Hong Kong:
http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2008/02/05/lustout.hong.kong.sex.photos.cnn

Apparently, some idiot has released private saucy photos of edison's ex- girlfriends, which he took of them while they were together.
And it includes nude pictures of celebs like Gillian (from Twins)- she is rather suicidal about this apparently, Cecilia Cheung- who wants to break up with Nic Tse (why? shouldnt it be the other way round.) and Joey Yeung- reports have claimed that her pictures are photoshopped though.

And seriously, we should just give these people a break.
If you want to see nude pictures,
why not just go on porn sites (better body and more exciting I would think).
Or just go a club,
and look at drunk girls pull their tops and skirts off.
And if you are lucky, you might just be able to kope a feel.

Stupid annoying busybodies.
and if you are wondering,
yes i happen to be a fan of gillian and edison,
but i generally think that they should be given privacy (actually, dont you think its only basic respect) when it comes to things that are going on in the bedroom.
Humans can be so malicious.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And this is yet another thing that caught my attention, when I was on my Kang Xi marathon:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYuIg7Tnc7g

Seriously, this is a classic example of a pot calling a kettle black.
Or should I say,
Dean and Pegington telling Moore he's bad.

Speaking of poor english, my vocab seems to be expanding. I know bradycardia and leukotrienes, but how come still cannot write proper sentences ah?

I loove Singapore,
and dont ask me why Im so fiercely patriotic.
Beats me too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont know why Im awake at this hour,
(ok maybe i stayed up to call home on CNY eve,
so that I would be less miserable spending CNY
stuck here
without all the good food
or company
of my favourite people back at home.)
Either way,
I think I should be going to get some sleep if not I would be a zombie during tut.
And i dont want to sound dumber than I already am.

It seems like as I grow up,
People around me start getting smarter.
(But I either stagnate or become dumber.)
Everyone Ive met after 406 says they dont study,
but seems to know everything,
Have a guardian angel to do their tutorials,
And a voice at the back of their heads during exams to tell them answers.
Apparently, I dont deserve such luck hur.

And bloody,
I have 11 winning bids on ebay that are due to end in the next few days,
WHATEVER AM I DOING?

Thank goodness,
this is only a formative assessment. (:
AKA singaporean mentality= not counted= nevermind can slack and pia again next time.

Shalalala.
------------------------------------------------------------------

新年快乐,
祝你鼠年行大运!
(and did i get the chinese characters all right?)

Amateur Transplants

In my life as a medical student,
I must watch these 2 chaps live:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuZl9tRqjoQ&feature=related

And guess you know you are a med student if you get this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGXn6HuCodE

And if you dont get the med jokes, this is just as good:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-14Yi9JwPPQ
(and im sure most guys would like this)

And for those with a career as exhausting as that of a doc's:

My Mika CD arrived!

I HAVE TO GET OFF EBAY BEFORE I SQUANDER AWAY ALL MY PARENT'S FORTUNE.

It sucks,
I bid and bid and bid,
and then, go
OH shucks
when I win the damn bid.

No wonder people get bankrupt from online shopping.

Distraction. and lack of Discipline.

I am addicted to Kang Xi Lai Le on youtube (though I quite miss having Xiao S around),
I am addicted to shopping on ebay,
I am addicted to msn, as always.

When it's 1 week to go for the coming test,
And I havent done half of what Im supposed to do,
(ok make that a quarter).
And I cant believe,
My mum just agreed to let me slack off this term,
And work harder for the next one,
I wonder if I really do sound that miserable.
(Its CNY soon.)

Either way, I should be getting back to work.
OH yes,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DARLING MONKEY (:
I love you!

And yes I love Prisc too,
cos even though she never understands,
and can never help,
She's always there.
I only wish I could be too.

And I love dj too,
cos even though she quirky,
weird,
and never makes me feel good,
But she always helps me fix things.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your maliciousness scares me.
And the world is
grey.

Tralalala.

sexayy zaizai.

Whatever am I doing,
awake at this hour?

And watching this instead of trying to finish studying:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD4ndQdgdKk&NR=1

But either way,
its making me miss home
and my scv.

Wine and Cheese and Unread notes.

And Im having dinner now in front of the computer,
In an attempt to save some time (cos I just HAVE TO go online and do rubbish like this every once in a while) and also so that i wont get distracted (and spend too much time in the dining hall),
Cos I so need to catch up on my revision.
This is my worst module yet,
And for some off reason I dont feel so bad that Im lagging so much behind.
Maybe the fear should kick in soon,
So that I would have some adrenaline to get my bum off and start sticking my face into my undone tutorials.

Wine and Cheese night was excellent, and its so much fun as always when Im hanging out with the Birmies.
I didnt drink though, but I was high on endorphins.
It seems like my prayers have been answered, and the situtation is all resolved. Thank God, Thank goodness (:

The independence and freedom that Im getting here is one of the best things about being in London. I can be out till 4am when its one week away from exams (and I have done nothing about it whatsoever). And I get to plan my time, decide if I want to go for lessons, go for socials or spend time alone.
And of course, the chance to go travelling a lot.

But, there are its downsides. (Oh dont we wish there isnt!)
The lonliness that comes in pangs once in a while,
The increase in appetite (for girls, and loss for guys)- meaning the increase in dress sizes as well. Which isnt at all good news when you come from an island where everyone is puny.
And the self-discipline that you really need to have-
So that you wont go down the drain,
Fail your course,
Squander your parents' money on booze and parties,
Get yourself pregnant,
Or get into some fight and get yourself mangled.
OH yes, and not eat so much so that you dont go home doubling your dress size.

Annndddd, its gonna be the first CNY,
Im spending
away from home.

And Im going to start afresh.

A very dear friend of mine shared this with me to make my day,
and it really did:

Hope that it'll make you smile like it did to me.

_____________________________________________________

OH,

And I went into a online shopping frenzy last night, and got myself MIKA'S LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION off ebay and HIS CONCERT TICKETS FOR THE 28TH.

I just cant wait.

Answer my prayers, and let this really be for the better :)

Mika is my Hero.

I think Im going wayy overboard in blogging,

But I just have to proclaim my love for MIKA now now now.

Check out his happy, funky official website:
It's like lollipop land, wonka's world, a paradise!

And my favourite song of his right now:
Relax, Take it Eaaaassssyyy (:
(OOOH, I just love his voice and this the lyrics for this song particularly.)

And here's one that would make most girls happy!:
Big Girl (You are Beautiful)

This is a Classic of Mika's:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tVXpYekcJ34
Grace Kelly
Absolutely mind-blowing voice!

And this songs makes me reallyyy jumpy and happy!:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PJVMWtv9JZI
Lollipop
Who doesnt love a lollipop? (:

And for once, I am glad Im in London,
Cos im gonna catch Mika Live!

So if you are game for it as well, come bug me about it,
And we can all go
Nutters over this absolutely talented man <3

I just love men like that.

X Japan's IV

Ernie managed to get tickets to watch X Japan!
YAYY, Im so happy for her it has actually managed to make my day.
I can just imagine her prancing about.

And this is their new single- IV:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZHbhCznAZao

And Im so sure she would be blown away when she is actually watching it live!

My body clock is following Singapore's time.

I like being nostalgic and looking at good ol' animes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8MTRXjSW64&NR=1
(Flame of Recca)
And this is wayyy better than Naruto I promise. Better characters, better plot, better powers.
I think Kurei is hotttt, but I still maintain I like Mikagami best (he is so my type isnt he).
The manga is much better, but watching the last epi of the anime would suffice :)

Animes and Mangas make me forget about reality.
Which can be rather nice once in a while.
Especially when you think that life is being a b*tch to you.

So now, I guess I have to find my wandering mind, and get it back to studying FEVs, TPRs and Anemia.
GARRRR.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Too much coffee in 1 day is bad for health.

Sometimes, I wish my mind wont be so cluttered.
And Im ashamed that I get so bothered by things so trivial. (and exams isnt even bothering me now.)

But I thank God for letting me have my old friends by me,
And having them give me advice and a listening ear when
Even I cant stand myself and when
Everyone else except for them looks at me like
Im a joke.

And I have to get over this disgusting emo crap.

I need some advice, someone help me!

Sunday Dinner at Alternative Duck Place in Bayswater with BIRMIES ((:

I love being with the Birmies so much (the group of people whom i went for the BBC good food show in Birmingham with). Sometimes, it kinda reminds me of being with SnR, when Im allowed to say the most bimbo and straightforward things, and they dont hate me for it. Which is nice (:

Eelin is sweet; Ella is thoughtful and nice to talk to; Jason is fun to be with, ever so candid and yet nice; Minshin is always laughing, and she makes everyone laugh; Jin is annoyingly entertaining- He isnt a good man, but one's whose company is enjoyable; and Miche is just dear Miche, must I say more?

Well, yesterday's dinner (at Bayswater) was delicious, albeit expensive at 12pounds. We went to an alternative duck place (which wasnt good enough for me to remember the name), and although Jon claims that the Four Season's chef moved over, I think Four Seasons definitely serve better duck. The curry fish head there was good though :) Having been to London, whose national dish is (indian) curry (that is not spicy at all), it was quite a nice change having good ol' Chinese curry. YUM.

We went for waffles after dinner, and small miserable piece of waffle with 2 small scoops of ice-cream cost me 4.40 pounds :( But 'cos I have been so caught up with trying to catch up with work that I cant manage my finances anymore- ie. I have been spending way more than I should.

ANAT TEST

Anat test today was fine. I got a B, which meant that I knew what I was supposed to know (A meant you knew more than you should, and C obviously meant you didnt know enough). Its not too bad a grade, considering I only started anat for about 1day? I obviously wished I could have done better (though I guess i dont deserve it.)

But it has motivated me to work harder for my Feb intermodule test and made me feel good enough to want to go for a run (: Something that I have always wanted myself to do but never gone about doing so.

Life in London has been rather smooth-sailing (: Im loving the independence, and starting to get used to the lonliness and the hundrums of taking care of my daily needs.

But yes, if there was something that I could wish for ...

I WANT SOME SELF- DISCIPLINE.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

And today, introducing some good old songs that I feel are evergreens:

Tsunami by Southern All Stars:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=krNlM7yVL68

They are quite an old band but I like the sincerity of their voice, and the clean cut manner of this song :0

Because I'm a Girl by K.I.S.S:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=FMFBarAWLrk

This is the most touching MV I have watched in my life (and one of my first and favourite Korean MVs). Wellll, if you havent heard of this MV, you so havent watched the best Korean MV ever produced.

Saturday, January 26, 2008

Kaede and Coffee. I love.

For some reasons, Jap Manga fans really like their characters to be gay. WHY?

Here you go, one of the rare few guys who arent repulsive when they are sweaty.

2 of my favourite characters- Kaede (in the front) and Hanagata from Shoyo (back in green)

SEE ERNS, HE DOES NOT DROOL.

EXAMS ARE IN 2 WEEKS, AND I HAVENT COMPLETED HALF OF MY READINGS :(
(and memorising.)
Oh yes, and I have an anat test on monday. And I dont know how to study anat.
And I'm feeling sleepy.
I WISH...
Too much coffee isnt bad for health.
Ps. Meix: I think I have no self- discipline too. And its worse off for me here, 'cos there isnt anyone to remind me to study when I slack off. Im trying to do well for this term as well, so that I can earn a trip to Japan and Korea during summer :(( And also cos Im paying so much money. And I think smart people usually are not too normal, so be glad that you are. I wonder if I can find a program that can ban youtube for me? : ((((

The Return of SHOHOKU!

SLAM DUNK HAS OVAs!
(I did a quick check on amazon and it seems that they have released a DVD set with all 101 original episodes with the 4 movies or OVAs. I'm not too sure when it was actually released though, cos I had never heard about Slam Dunk OVAs until recently when I chanced upon them while watching WANDS clips.)
Part of the 1st OVA: http://youtube.com/watch?v=b-8YKqNibl8
Gosh, its been such a long time since I last saw kaede playing. And he is still as good as ever.

There are 4 OVAs, and I personally prefer the 4th one best. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=uBwsxd1c1LY)
I literally went mad when I saw kaede do a fade-away shot. That's my favourite move (executed by my favourite character), which explains why I like hanagata a lot as well.
I'm starting to like Miyagi more (well, afterall I always have this thing for point guards) and also, finding Sakuragi more endearing. I always wonder how these people find the strength (physical and mental) to play those amazing matches.
Watching these OVAs just made me like Kaede and Mitsui more than ever, and Miyagi and Sakuragi too. Dj likes Akagi/ Gori as well, but I find his character a little too typical.
Either way, Im so glad to be able to watch Shohoku again!

It's making me nostalgic. Its times like this, late into the night when I should be sleeping and not letting my mind run wild and stuffing my face with wangwang that I wish that I could be back in 406 again. I think that's undoubtedly the best class I have had in my life (not that I have lived that many years and been to that many classes).
There were people who didnt mind you the way you are, tell you when they are annoyed at you and forget that they ever was after that. People who would tell me honestly that Im getting fatter, and that I should lose some weight, with no malice intended. People who would stay up with me into the night and help me with my essays. They are everywhere in the world- Singapore, Japan, Australia, UK. But somehow, they are always reachable when I do need them- to check grammar, for a favour or just to talk and b*tch.
I think I have really high expectations, but I would definitely call them friends (:

Ok, this is starting to sound quite cheesy. But Im really feeling so blessed now, cos I had loads of people helping when the past few days, people who went out of the way to do so, and I'm feeling that its almost surreal. Its almost too good to be true. But it was ...
So thank you! (:

ED: Hang in there for Med School (: I'm struggling too, but we can make it. I'll see you soon in Easter ok!

Slam Dunk and WANDS (:

This is just so funny:

Thank goodness I couldnt see "rukawa's" face clearly.

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

I want to rid the zit on my forehead :(

Once in a while, it is nice to know that there are people in this world who would go out of the way to help you and to care for you.
Oh, and it does makes me feel like Im so blessed and so loved.

Thank you (:

HAS TO GET HER BUM OFF and GET BACK TO WORK.

I was supposed to be at Miche's studying and we ended up chatting and planning for our post-exams intermodule week. I think I might possibly be ponning lesson on V-day (: and spending the romantic evening with Miche and Stef if things work out the way we wanted it to. Or I might be a good girl and go for SSC on Vday (anticlimax hurhur).

And I have been feeling real excited about my possible summer trip to Korea and Japan, and hopefully I can spend my summer with all my favourite people. Exciting!
But that means that I would have to work harder for this module's exams and not mess it up. I hate myself for my lack of self- discipline :(

And my current favourite song:

"Miss You Much"- Janet Jackson
Shot like an arrow going through my heart
That's the pain I feelI feel whenever we're apart
Not to say that I'm in love with you
But who's to say that I'm not
I just know that it feels wrong,
When I'm away too long
It makes my body hot
So let me tell ya baby
I'll tell your mama
I'll tell your friends
I'll tell anyone whose heart can comprehend
Send it in a letter baby
Tell you on the phone
I'm not the kinda girl
Who likes to be alone
I miss ya much (boy-oh-I miss you much)
I really miss you much (M-I-S-S you much)
I miss ya much (boy-oh-I miss you much)
Baby I really miss you much (M-I-S-S you much)
I'm rushing home
Just as soon as I can
I'm rushing home to see
Your smiling face
And feel your warm embrace
It makes f-feel so g-g-g good

And i should get off youtube.

Monday, January 21, 2008

Miss You Much

Why am I not at the library?!

Anyway, Janet Jackson is hott: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtUivhJIZPk&NR=1

And the 200pound beauty version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gpxGeX7E4U
Kim Ah Joong is hot and has an absolutely amazing voice.

But I still think Janet Jackson is better,
I give her credit for being sexy and glamourous and being able to dance so well and sing this.

I miss you much! (:

And i have to get off youtube.

Stand by Me

I just cant decide which version I like better:

By Kim Ah Joong & Joo Jin Mo from 200pounds Beauty: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hoJK4t1gqq8&feature=related

By John Lennon: http://youtube.com/watch?v=O4_ghOG9JQM
He is just so sexayyy. No wonder he is a legend.

By Ben E King: http://youtube.com/watch?v=f9Y6ARjIL-E
The classic one. Nice and clean.

By U2: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lTiFKnLifCU
What can I say? Its U2.

By Timone and Pumbaa: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7lvqkOc50vE
Gawd,what a spoofff. I love them <3

WHAT AM I DOING ONLINE?!

Of X- Japan and Japanese Blood types.

I havent had much self- discipline these few days, I have been trying to say that I would complete more tomorrow and obviously, tomorrow never comes. I think exams are coming soon (ok, maybe I dont have to think) and I found out to my horror that everything is going to be covered, and that leaves me in dire straits because I have yet to sort out this module.

Anyway, I found out from Erns that X Japan would be having a concert in March, and did a quick google on their current status and found out that Toshi and Yoshiki are trying to get the band together once again! Hoorrayyyy (: But i presume in March I would be mourning the kidnapping of Shinhwa by the Korean Army.
So here's one of my favourite X Japan songs: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-STj-hzM780
This particular clip brings tears to my eyes!
Toshi's voice is amazing in this particular clip, though I have heard some others where he couldnt reach the higher notes.
I so wish that I could be in Japan to catch them live! :(( Im jealous of Ernie!

I spent my whole afternoon chatting to Prisc and surfing sites like this: http://www.pisces.com/all-about-pisces/.
'Cos today during brunch, we were talking about whether horoscopes are accurate. I think Im a piscean through and through. Its alarmingly accurate.

My korean hallmate doesnt believe in it at all but he believes in the blood group typing of personality, which i have never heard of in my life. Apparently me being B+ means that Im a playgirl. HAHHAA, and prisc was saying that I have to get attached first to be one.
I wiki-ed about it and there is this sentence that goes: "It is common among anime and manga authors to mention their character's blood types, and to give their characters corresponding blood types to match their personalities." Explains why now, I always thought that it was for easy blood transfusion for the characters since most of them lose so much blood all the time.

And here's yet another good song by X Japan: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iNJVmu8sUeY (Endless Rain). All their songs blow me away, even though Im not someone who normally listens to rock and like rock bands with emo guys and colourful hair.

I miss Prisc. I want a study buddy.

Its amazing how sometimes physical geographical distances can bring closer the gaps within the hearts of people.

I should be missing you Youtube!

I think I watch too much Youtube. But i havent had the chance to update my ipod which is why.

I should be singing this to youtube:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=U2gj-tsxs24&feature=related
I personally like this acoustic version more than the P. Daddy one. But P. Daddy's just as nice (: Though I think Sting has a sexier voice.
And this is undoubtedly the best of all:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BnejNGprm3I - Nothing beats the original one! Sexayy.

And this brings back real good memories (though ironically its supposed to be a real sad song):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=QELIi9TM7tw
Hail X Japan, they are hardcore stuff man!

I have to watch less youtube seriously!

Exams in 3 weeks :(

Romancing with the Library.

I think ever since I come to London, I have been this mixed ball of emotions. I have been really happy, really excited and really exhausted, tired and sick of everything, and my emotions oscillate from one extreme to another.
So yesterday, I was really tired and wanting to run away from everything, and today Im back up and jumping about. Its really odd, and Im scaring myself quite a bit.

I was chatting to a friend the other day, and I became aware once again how important it is to enrich my life with loads of experiences so that I can relate to many people, and so that I wont be so socially awkward. I guess it aint so bad being a jack of all trades and a master of none. Speaking of which, I dont think Im really gd at anything anyway.

But i kind of like it the way it is now, I guess people would say that Im not socialising enough- Well at least Im talking to random people, I used to find my group of friends and stick to them.
I like my hallmates who are so much fun (: and I look fwd to getting to know the HC people from HC night better.
At least, Im no longer a recluse, and thats an improvement from last term.

Ok, I should be getting back to work and catching up. And i should not watch NBA tonight cos I have tutorial in the morning tmr :( But I doubt my self- discipline would work.
Im going to go romance with the library and get my bum off my room.

Youtube video of the day: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jI27jZRF4hc
(Lovely lovely song that never fails to stir up my emotions though I have never watched the anime before. Tell me if you know who the original singer is!)

I'm beyond tired.

I need some strength, some motivation and some inspiration.

Of boybands and Youtube.

I dont think I can ever snap out of swooning over boybands.
Its so embarrassing.

I found out recently that Fahrenheit (飞轮海), F4 and Zaizai 仔仔has released new albums. And as much as I know that they dont sound as good as Jacky Cheung, I still like them. I feel guilty for being so ditzy. But once in a while, I guess I'll let myself prance around looking silly.

FAHRENHEIT 飞轮海

I think Fahrenheit sings feel-good songs :) that really makes me happy:
Yet another collaboration with SHE- http://youtube.com/watch?v=fA02oTwU1Uw
And here's a Behind the Scenes for one of the MVs- http://youtube.com/watch?v=vlmtBFn6Ukc&feature=related --> this song has a line which Jiro starts rapping M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, and for a moment, I almost couldnt stand the cheesy-ness of it all.

This clip reminds me of my taiwan exchange programme, when I bought a pack of drink cos it has winter sonata on it (and it still have it up till today, although I cleaned it up and used it as a pencil holder) and a can of pepsi cos it as F4 (My dad drank it and left me in tears) on it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rwGlCdcv8BQ&feature=related
It makes me want to go taiwan to get it!

F4

F4 has a new album too after such a long hiatus, and I see that they havent changed their style much.
This is the main song that they have been promoting: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Ct7fI6-Jo4&feature=related
But I personally prefer this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Sg2XDUyFfGc&feature=related

The album is nothing very exciting, but its exciting enough that F4 finally released an album, I almost thought that they would join the statistics of disbanded boybands.
Speaking of the members of F4, I think zaizai looks better now with his chopped locks, more clean cut and more ... masculine ;)
And unlike prisc, I like vanness' new looks too. (She reckons that he looks like an ahbeng. I beg to differ. He reminds me of the old KangTa -a beefier version of course- with his new look. And its always a compliment to be compared to KangTa.)
Ken Chu put on weight I think, and prisc was saying that the news reported that he put on 17kg? Oh my, I hope it doesnt ever happen to me :(
Jerry Yan doesnt seemed to have changed the least bit though I think that the MVs seem to have shifted the focus from him to zaizai and vanness.

ZAIZAI

And Zaizai has a new album:
I am not F4-http://youtube.com/watch?v=tMCFYEEZXas
I quite like it, in fact more than F4's album :) But not as much as Fahrenheit's.
But that doesnt make me like F4 as a band any less.
And thats the problem with me, I never stop forgetting that I once liked something or someone. It accummulates. I wonder if there is something wrong with me. I feel like a garang guni man.

And of course, no one ever beats SHINHWA who has been going strong even after 9years :)

Oh yes, one last clip that is making me nostalgic:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=moN71EdyqmU
And of course the last episode (which used shinhwa's songs):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LkvyS-KSSlA&feature=related
Despite the fact that I never really went on to like 5566, but its one of my favourite idol dramas. Maybe cos it is one of the rare few well-done basketball ones. And in this particular episode, there is a small mention of Kaede Rukawa (: who is undoubtedly my all time favourite character. I miss having the chance to watch people play bball live- to watch them execute those moves so gracefully and to cheer for the team. I wonder if there is any bball leagues in UK? Or actually i dont even mind watching my school team play, I just dont know how to go about doing so. I feel completely estranged from everyone.
I'm living in my own world and I know it. I feel bad and I want to change it. But everytime i try to venture out, it makes me scared and lost, and I retreat back again and find myself a lot happier and more comfortable.

Thank God for old friends (:

Peish is satisfied :)

Studying is for those who have nothing better to do- for people who are able to indulge in intellectual fulfillment because they dont have to fill their stomach.
Oh yes, Im crazy, I'm enjoying myself- studying.

I feel bad whining and moaning about my workload and readings when I know its supposed to be a luxury. I think I'm becoming Orsino, and quite enjoying it. How sinful.

Its rainy days like these that makes me feel like I should get a pair of wellies.
Maybe I really should, on top of the boots I was planning to get. My toes deserve better.
I want to go shopping.

Daydreams.

I havent been good today. It was a nice short day with only 1hr of lessons and I didnt do as much today as I should have.

But i shopped and bought many things.
I snacked and ate junk.
I listened to music and fell in love with this song.

Dreaming of You- Selena
Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and think of you
And I wish on a star that somewhere you are
Thinking of me too
Cause I’m dreaming of you tonight
Till tomorrow, I’ll be holding you tight
And there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be
Than here in my room dreaming about you and me
Wonder if you ever see me and i
Wonder if you know I’m there (am I there, am i? )
If you looked in my eyes would you see what’s inside
Would you even care?
I just wanna hold you close but so far
All I have are dreams of you
So I wait for the day (wait for the day)
To take the courage to say how much I love you
Yes I do

And no, the song doesnt end this way (:

Oh! Yes, I let my mind drift and Im daydreaming again.

Bye Amy! with much love <3

My taiwanese hallmate is leaving today and there was music and songs and dances and hugs and ... tears. Its so beautiful.

I barely got to know her, and I find it such a pity that I have to say goodbye when Im just about to get to know her better, to have more common things to talk about without the initial awkwardness of thinking of something to say. But now that Im here overseas, going to visit my friends around the world doesnt seem too far away unlike back when I was cooped up in Singapore.

I love my hallmates, and they are starting to become a very special part of my life. Having dinner with them is like having my free endorphine jab, and its becoming something addictive, something that I look forward to, and something that I probably dont expect myself to say.
I am saying a prayer, and Im hoping that i will have them as part of my life next year.

That aside, my sleeping hours have become erratic. I sleep in the day (I missed 2 lectures this morning cos I was too lazy to wake up from my nap.) and I do laundry in the wee hours of the morning. I think its bad for health. Just like how I know diet coke does everything bad for my memory and I continue drinking it. I see I have some trouble weighing risks.

And Im proud of myself that I have snapped out of slacking mode, started some work, and that Im no longer self- obsessed and letting my mind drift. Im back to normal and raring to go (: Im back to who I am.

I feel good baby :)

Slap me awake.

Its barely the start of the new year and guilt is plaguing me.
I have been trying ways and means of getting myself back on track- to start getting some work done, to start exercising, losing some weight and being healthy, and to start being genuinely nicer.

I looked into the mirror just now and I saw this fat girl with ugly eyebags and I wanted to smash the mirror up, and the only thing that is stopping me is that I dont want to pay a fine and neither do i want to have 7 years of bad luck just in case in breaks into 7 pieces. Im unlucky enough really.

I'm gonna go out get a breather, and some work done at starbucks at Brunswick. It makes me feel so much better when I get stuff done. I like striking things off my to-do list but I dont like getting about doing them. I think its cos I dont have any self- discipline. And I better find some soon, if I dont want to waste my parents money and if I ever want to find someone (no one likes fat girls do they!).

Wish me luck in facing the New Year people.
I actually feel quite suffocated.

Shinhwa Changjo!

And I have no idea why its 3.15 am in the morning now and Im watching clips of this sort:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6_dS62el-I&NR=1

Its very very disturbing. (Well but i have to admit i loved it.)
But it makes me think of good old times when I used to squeal at them with ernie and xq.
(I still do, but now I do it alone, hidden in my room.)

And here's another bitter blow-
The whole band is going to leave for army this year :(
Well, except for Sungie cos he has a severe knee injury and is exempted.

And yes, their next album is scheduled to be released in March. And it would be the best bday present to me ever :) At least it can keep me company till the nxt time they say hello to us again. I'm already missing them.

And for some odd reason, Im starting to like Sungie more than JunJin, as I pored through all the clips. Yes, laugh at me- I like the androgynous look. (Lee Joon Ki does it best though.)

I think the best way to get over an addiction is to find another one.
I'm finally not watching so much Kitchen Nightmares anymore now that I watching old Shinhwa clips and MVs nonstop.

So, this was how i spent most of my day when I promised myself that i would be working and catching up.
OK, I have to do smthing about this-
1. I want to see erns.
2. I want to see korea.
So i must study. :(
And its not that I dont like studying (in fact I really quite like my course.), its just that I cant get myself off youtube.
Im really going to resort to throwing away the internet cable soon.

And i think my new year resolution should be to have some self- discipline. Like this, everything takes care of itself no?

SHINHWA CHANGJO (:

Cheers to a New Year!

Im finally happy. Its 7.30am and I have finally finished my essay (: (And a bowl of miso soup with mushrooms and a cup of cereal and a packet of seaweed and wangwang and an apple.) And my diet is so not working.

My essay is 200 words off the recommended word count, but I shant bother. I shall just randomly get peeps to help me shave it off. My mind is almost no longer functioning though Im feeling rather awake.

And i will be a good girl tmr and start on physio (after a very long hiatus) and continue cleaning my room.

For now, its almost time I go to bed. My eyebags are getting bigger. So are my cheeks, this aint good news at all :(

And Im looking for people to bring back stuff from Singapore for me~ (Hint hint!)

London is darn warm, or at least my room is. I wish there was .. erm, aircon ;) hehe.

New Year Musings

New Year 2008.

Its the New Year, its 2008. And it hasnt sunk in yet. Well maybe because my day has passed monotonously, and I'm quite refusing to face reality. I havent done much the whole day except for trying to clean up my room, which i gave up halfway and decided that Im going to continue another day. And of course I made my meals, Im much to lazy to dress appropriately to go Hughes Parry for dinner and I found out too late that some of the Singaporeans are having dinner together at Nandos (not that I was really in the mood to party, look happy and excited and celebrate). And I tried to start on my PDS essay, though Im not too successful- Im spending much too much time online and on facebook, replying emails and looking at the photos of people. I see that Italy is a popular holiday destination amongst Singaporeans staying in London, and that people who are back in Singapore seem to be spending xmas with their (old) class. Im going to complete my PDS essay tonight no matter what. Its high time I snap out of my trance and stop being Orsino and face some reality. I'm ashamed and disgusted that I have spent the 1st hour of my 2008 being a bum. And why is it that a New Year day should be happy? I mean, arguments that its a fresh beginning dont make sense because everyday can be a fresh beginning. Unless of course, its happy because its an additional holiday would make a better justification, and it doesnt apply to me because UCL ate it up by putting in our already very short winter break.

New Year Resolutions:
1. Lose weight.
2. Work hard, so that I can go Japan and Korea.
3. Go home unlondonified- I better remember my roots.

and my New Year wish ...
shall remain in my heart, cos my momma tells me that saying it out loud would make it pop.

OH Scotland~

Scotland was absolutely amazing and one of my favourite holiday destinations ever (: I visited the Isle of Skyle in the Highlands, where the locals believe in tales of fairies plus there are majestic castles there and breathtaking scenery so much so that I feel like Im almost in a fairy tale (Im just short of a prince).
My guide was wonderful- He was this 60plus, 70year old man who could churn out trivial and the history of skyle and scotland like he had lived through all of it. I love listening to him talk about it (albeit the fact that the scottish accent was really hard to catch. Its cute though ;)), and Im contemplating on buying a book on Scottish History. In fact, Im so into Scottish history that i just spent 8.5pounds at selfridges getting a tin of shortbread cos it has pictures of Bonnie Prince Charles and Flora MacDonald on it.
I wonder if my interest would wane? Somehow coming here to London is changing me- Im reading a lot more, in fact I cant seem to stop and I seem to be interested in things that I would never expect myself to be, from history to cooking to musicals. And shockingly, Im becoming more of a recluse and introvert by the day. And things that used to bother me loads have become the least of my worries now. Its odd isnt it? I wonder if its because now I have more time to reflect and to find out about myself?

Anyway, back to Skyle, Its so beautiful Im pretty sure that its therepeutic and that the locals there live a good 10 years longer than us. And its also why Im planning to have a retirement home in there, but that would mean that I need to have another million bucks to spare for such an extravagant plan. I have posted up pictures on Facebook, go take a peek if you are interested. But i think my photo taking skills do not do the beauty any justice :) I really would like to go back there again, but probably to travel south and I believe its just as beautiful! Maybe I could go on a Da Vinci trail or smthing and visit the Rosslyn Chapel~

I spent a couple of days in edinburgh as well because there was no train back to London on Christmas and Boxing Day.
And it was also really nice cos i got to spend xmas with my family! (: And this makes me feel less sore that Im spending New Year alone like someone who just got dumped. hehe. Xmas there was nothing fantastic though- no snow and no white christmas. All shops were closed and I had bread and butter like some POW cos even Macs was closed! (Phenomenons that would never happen in Singapore for sure.)
Boxing Day sale in Edinburgh was nothing spectacular, I got a coat and some souvenirs and scarves (I have a weakness for the tartans!) and thats about all. Im still waiting for the further reductions in January, and hopefully then, I would be able to get better bargains.

Spent my remaining days in London with my family doing random stuff like shopping in Covent Garden (we refuse to battle crowds in Oxford street), drinking good stuff coffee and gelato, stuffing our faces with Four Seasons Duck (Unlike my mum, I dont see the hype about it though), strolling down Portobello market, watching Les Mis with my cousins (I was completely blown away by it!) and running errands like buying Krispy Kremes to bring back.

And I see that Im just rambling, I think its high time Im back to working on my essay, and work out what London has to offer for HIV patients, and how messed up it is and how smart Peish can come up with solutions for the banged up NHS. Seriously essays like this are rubbish- I mean if I could think up of feasible solutions, it would have long been implement no?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE (:

The looming of the Winter Break

The coming of the holidays actually worry me. And i have loads of reasons for it-
1. There is actually a nagging thought at the back of my head that tells me that I should not have slacked off in the last 2 weeks of school, cos now I have LOADS to catch up on. And there already isnt enough time to eat and sleep and recharge, much less prepare for the coming term.
2. 2 extremely annoying essay due on the first day of school at 5pm. And no, I dont not know how to go about starting it.
3. A more annoying learning diary. I absolutely detest such stuff- I end up being positive and not cynical and not myself. Absolutely distressing.
4. Im getting too fat. And I cant stop eating cos it is the festive season. Bad excuse and I hate myself for it. (Speaking of which, Im stuffing my face with Gu Choc Brownie and Cantuccini that Stef brought me from Italy and drinking my favourite Sainsbury's Red Tea now.)
5. I'm going to spend too much money for my own good. Boxing sale has yet to start and I have started shopping. This aint good at all, seriously.
6. Im homesick and Im jealous of Stef and Mich and Charm who are home in sunny singapore now. I miss the tripod people, I miss SnR, I miss the Losers, I miss my random friends in Japan, in Australia and people like Pangsai and Boobs. And Im not supposed to be whining, Im supposed to be happy that Im going to scotland for xmas.
Im sure I will be ... If im warm enough, that is.

Ok NO MORE WHINING. I get absolutely disgusted at myself when I do stuff like this, but I just have to get it off my chest and now im good (:

Its time for be to go Chinatown and get some stuff for my family who are happily enjoying their tour of uk, while I sit here and sulk that Im travelling north for the xmas and going to battle winter at full force. Wish me loads of luck people, and I wish you all ...
A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS (:

I count my blessings and You are defintely one of them. Thank you!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Sunday, December 16, 2007

The start of the Holidays.

Its finally officially the holidays. Though ironically, now I have this nagging voice in me to start work, get my bum off the bed and face off facebook and msn.
But it isnt working, Im homesick and I want to know so many things about Singapore. I want to know whats happening- if there are new policies, who is the top psle student of the year, any xmas sales in singapore, which star is dating which star again ... SERIOUSLY ANYTHING SINGAPOREAN. Which is why I spend so much time on facebook replying emails and on msn. And homesickness reduces you to some kinda goo. You just sit stoned, and non- functional.

And, yes supposed to have breakfast with Kelv and some of my hallmates this morning. But i think all pangsei. Which i dont mind, cos Im actually so darn tired from last night. I was online talking to Kelv about all sorts of stuff till late, and now i pretty much feel quite like a zombie. But i woke up anyway- part of me feel like i should wake up cos i asked people but part of me just dont want to go out at all. So im pretty happy (and tired) now, sitting in my room, and probably going back to dreamland later.

Last week of school has been so slack for me, and not because there isnt many lessons but because I have been slack- like really slack. I have started sleeping in class, missing lectures (cos my family was in town, and I thought it was important than going for a not-too-fantastic lecturer), and i know this is the start of a slippery slope. I have tried so hard to be good, and now its all destroyed. Like what Monica said, Its the opening of the floodgates, the start of many to come. And it better not be, cos after xmas break, Im going to be a good kid and work hard, so that I can earn my reward to Japan and Korea.

Met up with Monica last night (and thats whom the breakfast vouchers came from) cos she was in london for a short while. And it was great (: I miss her so much and its so much like old times just sitting and chatting to her- and doing our favourite activity (guess what. no surprises. starts with a B.)
Stef is coming back from italy later. And i might possibly bug her to go for a musical with me. I love love love watching musicals.
And this isnt good, what expensive hobbies I have (:

OK BACK TO SLEEP. cheap and good.

My dear lil brother is coming to town!

Finally, my family is coming tmr! Im pretty excited about it, though i would think that im probably less excited that I would have been about 1 mth ago, cos im really starting to enjoy life abit more here. Well, i love life that doesnt involve doing work ;) (And I have gone on a work hiatus.) And im going to watch chelsea- valencia tmr, hope that it would be a good match (the atm at stamford bridge better be good)! Quite looking forward to it, and i can imagine people like kep and pea being jealous. This is one of the good things about being in london- there are tons of things to do, if you can afford it of course.

Woke up earlier than usual to pass Moo some sushi that I made in the sushi sweatshop with mich yesterday. And brought down some for dinner, but i still have like LOADS of it left. I think i still can feed an army with it :( Meaning that its going to be my meals for the nxt couple of days, which is making me miserable just thinking about it. Maybe I shall bring it for the medics tmr, and get them to help me clear it. Plus it makes me look nice and friendly.

Hung out with some of my hallmates after dinner and we were surfing the web for pictures of kangkong, cos one of them is thinking of making some food for her friends. Kelv and mich came over to bum around after that and it was as usual loads of crap. Plus kelv brought me EGG TARTS FROM SELFRIDGES. Best eggtarts in london i promise! A must try, and possibly better than singapore's. Though maybe hk and macau might beat it but i havent tasted those since very long ago, so i have pretty much forgot the taste of it. Mich brought some Gu choc cake, it was AMAZING as well. Calories just as amazing. And i think i consume about an average (for a male) of 2500 calories a day, i have to find a way to cut down on it somehow. :( And i think its going to get worse when my family comes. I seriously have NO SELF DISCIPLINE. No wonder im here now when 3hrs ago, i set about trying to read physiology. Terrible.

Finally uploaded the Birmingham trip pictures onto facebook, go check it out people! (Though i have to wait for Eelin to come back from spain to get the high quality pictures.)

Its a cold day today, heard from mich that its -2degrees. Terrible. Its days like this that makes me regret buying my lovely fridge.

I'm looking fwd to the hols after this week! And then i wont be jealous of the oxbridge and ULSOP people anymore! (:

AND MON is coming to london, i cant wait! <3
The days in London are just starting to look good, despite the coming of a cold winter.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Slack Sunday

Woke up really late this morning, though I have to admit that I dragged myself up for brunch (if not I would have continued) thinking that i would be as sumptuous as a typical sat brunch, but it wasnt. Almost like a typical wkday one, which I would not have sacrifice my sleep for :( Now i have learnt my lesson.

Went back to my room and bummed around. Had a little tiff with my mum, and she hung up on me on skype -_-" Now, I have to think of ways to patch things up before she comes, if not my holidays wouldnt be good. But im really looking fwd to my brother coming and going for the chelsea match (:

Spent the whole day preparing for sushi for my hallmate, cos its her farewell. And as usual, I overestimated a normal person's appetite and bought like 20pounds worth of sushi ingredients, which led to me making enough sushi to feed an army. Ok, im exaggerating. But more like dinner for about 20people. Which is not too way off my initial plan of making snacks for about 20people? (:
But spent more time than expected preparing the sushi, and hence (very sadly) missed the asian dinner. Its like the 2nd time I missed it :( Though, didnt mind it too much cos i wasnt too hungry after preparing and eating sushi at the same time and was hanging out with mich (and this is not considered socialising which means it is loads of fun).
Will be bringing the sushi down for dinner tmr, cos didnt have the chance today. But it means that it would be hard and dry and i would have loads of sushi to heat up -_-"

And i suddenly remembered that i have left my laundry in the dryer.
I wonder why the dryer is hot but makes clothes shrink? I thought warm air should make it expand?
The wonders of phyics.

Cooking makes me tired :( And im dreading school tmr, though i cant wait for my brother to come on tuesday! And that reminds me that i have to keep him away from corruption by kelv.

Merry Christmas People!
Im feeling festive and abit off up there ;)

Shopping Saturday

It seems like Im not someone who is able to balance much of a social life and academic work. Its like one or the other.
When im trying to get some work done, i would be holed up in my room, completely uncontactable (phone's off and not online) and just alternating between eat, sleep, mug. And now that im on a work hiatus, ive been like hanging out with people more ever since I came back from the birmingham trip.

Went out shopping with kelv, my adopted london Mummy, who is so annoying and yet so much fun to be with. I dont know if im sadistic, masochistic or just plain insane, but i have no idea why im hanging out with this poophead. So we spent the whole afternoon just strolling oxford street and getting his stuff for his friends back in sunny singapore. And one of them was for zhenni, and its amazing how small singapore is cos everyone knows everyone. Somehow one way or another- in school, church, cca or random tuition classes. Amazing ... amazingly scary.
Like I could walk down the streets and someone could go behind me and say, thats the girl who eats more than a normal guy. Oh btw, she's a klutz too. -_-"
And yes, we got a couple of cool tees for his friends, and im thinking of getting them too. But still contemplating and waiting for the boxing day sale. (I cant wait for it! Im wishing it could come like now now now!)
And of course, each shopping trip isnt complete (for me at least) if i dont get any good food, so i got distracted by Selfridge's Foodhall and got portugese egg tarts that were super fantastic and a carrot cake that was good but ive tasted better (:
And before heading to oxford street, we actually stopped by covent gdn and had coffee at this amazing place. Good stuff espresso for only 1pound. I foresee myself going back there again and again. Only wished it could expand (though we were wondering if it would affect the business in this manner) and it would have been fantastic.

I actually bothered to go back to hall for dinner. Food is getting worse (maybe cos i have been eating more of it to realise it), but i enjoy hanging out with the people here more. Played murderers with hallmates for about 2.5hours after that and it reminded me so much of 406 times. Missing the class and all the friends so much.
Its pretty hard to make loads of friends in uni? Or maybe its just cos its antisocial me.

I want to go Japan and Korea for summer.

Connaught Hall's Christmas Dinner

I have completely stopped bring functional. I was telling myself that after my nap after going for a magic trick show at my friends room after dinner would be revision time, and now everything backfired. Somehow, it doesnt seem to bother me too much. I just dont feel like doing ANYTHING remotely related to work. But of course, im attending my lectures and labs and trying to be attentive and remember stuff. But everyone knows that it is not enough. I have to get my bum off my room, clean it up and go to the library to get work done ... in January, since my family is coming over in about 4 days time. I'm real excited about it (:

Christmas Dinner at Hall
My hall has a formal xmas dinner last night and it was unexpectedly not painful. Got to sit with a bunch of people, who were really nice, friendly and easy to talk to, though they proclaimed themselves to be normally antisocial. I dont blame them, im no fan of socialising myself (well in fact I dread it most of the time), it gets more more tired than mugging to be quite honest.
I went down for dinner initially, finally after a 2.5 week hiatus and holing up in my room eating food in front of youtube, ive decided that im going to make an effort to show some of my face and talk to some of the hall people. And I was greeted by a shocking sight of beautiful ladies in flowing gowns and the guys in suit. Absolutely horrifying! And I was there in faded jeans and slippers, looking quite lost and confused, till Preuk came and got me to get changed to formal wear.
Whoever would have guess that my hall was celebrating xmas 20days before the day itself! And so I contemplated ... and I did relent finally. Put on my (emergency) dress -thank goodness i brought one over- and my only pair of heels (4inches .. ouch). And tottered down. Found the only seat with the bunch of people I eventually had dinner with, and it was really nice. They were really easy to talk to. And, its been quite hard to find people like that here, cos most of the time, i seem to have to make a conscious effort to find topics to talk to the people about. But with this bunch, its different! Which is good (: Or maybe its just my once pathetic (and still rather sad) social skills are getting slightly better.
People were going around taking photos, but im camera shy (haha!), cos i barely bothered to dress up and was too embarrassed to go about. Plus i had really nice table mates to chat to, so that contributed to inertia to get about.
The wardenian team were waiters for the night, and the comm members cleaning up staff. Feeling quite sorry for them all ;) But i guess it isnt too bad for just 1 night in a year.

I've been terribly distracted by travel plans. And im planning to visit Erns in Japan, and making a short trip to korea during then and then on to melbourne and back to singapore during the summer hols. The whole trip (hopefully) not costing more than 2k (sing dollars of course) for airfares, which is actually quite probable. I'm excited just thinking about it, cos i absolutely love korea and i think its gonna be loads of fun visiting Erns (and seeing Japan, the manga land!) and Huien and possibly the rest of the aussie peeps (:

If only life was a holiday ;)
WAIT.
I take that back, it just means that we wont have breaks at all, right?

Birmingham trip Day 3 and Dinner!

Day 3: BBC Good Food Show at NEC

We were late for the Gordon Ramsay show which was such a pity cos he was so amazingly charming. He makes me feel like I dont mind being fat if I can marry such a charming cook. But as we have established, being a medic meant that you dont have much choice in your man, so i guess i would be left on the benches for quite some time : ( Not a good thought at all!
Anw, the fair was fantastic, there were so many things to try and the good food there were really good and decently priced! I didnt buy much stuff but, i went around trying everything from organic biscuits (which I got dj to bring back for the losers), to chilli and dark choc sauce and pate. It was amazing. And i got very very full just doing food tasting. The whole fair was huge, with one whole big section dedicated to wine and alcohol, and of course, many alcoholics were killing their livers there. And there were shows going on as well, but it was so crowded that i refused to squeeze in to watch and it made me regret it abit, cos i heard that mich and minshin got to try some of the food which the cooks cooked. Absolutely amazing! Its making me jealous just thinking about it. AND THEY WERE IN SUPER CLOSE PROXIMITY TO GORDON RAMSAY, who is so charming. I think men are like wine, they just get better with time, dont you agree ;) ahha, especially one who can cook this well! and who is so humourous!
I didnt buy much stuff at the show, cos I was trying not to spend too much money and trying all the food already made me full. Plus its not too good a idea to keep so much food with me. Since, im already trying to go on diet (and im finishing babe's wafers now. not good at all. stupid girl thinks that i would appreciate it for leaving food for me. NOT!)

The birmingham people came together for a dinner gathering ytd and it was great. I had rarely hung out like this in london. Mainly cos part of me think that i should be using my time to either catch up on sleep, work or clean up stuff. But now i think, its time for me to get a social life! Though have to seek a balance of course. Sometimes i wish london isnt so .. "sociable". But i guess i would come to realise the fun of socialising (: .. when i do get better at it. Since now it more stressful than enjoyable!
But with the birmies, its so absolutely amazing. Everyone is so easy to talk to and so fun and accepting. I got pretty high last night and was up till 4am playing Grow which isnt good at all! But still, i really loved it and i wished i could have more dinners like that, with such nice company.

And yes, I finally watched the last epi of Heroes Season 2 ytd, and I SO DO NOT LIKE THE ENDING! Stop the writers block, bring back my heroes! Gimme a proper ending! And make the characters smarter! People are that un-intelligent in real life, and peter isnt either!!

I want to go on another trip! Abolish exams, cancel dry labs (they are really dry!) and postpone the lectures ... Gimme more time to see this beautiful world!

Monster Game

I finally completed this addictive game that kelv introduced to me:

Its so silly, but it just makes people compulsive and want to do it again and again.
Basically, you just have to max out the levels all the various items, and its a game based on logic. Check out: http://www.eyezmaze.com/eyezblog_en/blog/2005/09/grow_cube.html#monster if you are interested.
Not my fault if you are addicted.
Just came back from a nice social dinner with the birmingham people and it was absolutely great. I love this bunch (: And some of them makes me feel like I might just find some close friends in here. And thats gonna be so beautiful!
(As usual too lazy to blog, will do so when Im in the mood.)

Birmingham trip!

The birmingham trip from Friday to Sunday was absolutely fantastic, one of the best trips i have ever been to. Kudos to Miche (and loads of thanks) for organising it! (: Despite the fact that i slept through the whole day today (I slept during lessons! Which was bad, since i havent been a bad kid since i came.), I think it was one of the best weekend getaways I have ever had! But now i feel very very slack, and lack the drive to continue working for the nxt 2 weeks of school, it seems like im already in a holiday mood. But being a medic, i SHOULD be mugging nonstop shouldnt i be?

Back to the birmingham trip.
Firstly, i absolutely loved the crowd that went. It seemed like everyone got along so well, and we all seem to have this certain chemistry, although we did have a little hiccup here and there (which can never be helped with group travelling) but i would love to go on more trips with this bunch again ((: Its like making me feel like somehow i could find a gang of friends that i might potentially be really comfortable with again. But of course, because of the medics' disgusting timetable, it meant pretty much that they would mostly be my travel buddies. But who knows what lies in the future yes? Im praying and hoping that something like 406 would happen, and i know itll be so beautiful then!

Day 1, Friday:
The bus was late, and we finally reached birmingham (to be greeted by fierce gusts of chilling wind that left me chattering .. literally.) after midnight. And it was alot later than expected cos the bus left about 45mins late. But the service apartment was absolutely great. There was this huge kingsized bed and the toilet was fantastic and it was SO NEW. Plus the best part was that we got it for like 200quid in all, and all 14 of us managed to squeeze in very comfortably. And there was this kitchen with everything intact- pots and pans, utensils, oven, microwave, dishwasher. Absolutely amazing!
Finally we all went to bed at 3.30am -_-"

Day 2, Saturday:
Visited the German Food Fair in the morning, and i didnt know anywhere could be so happy! The music just made me want to skip and the food (although disgustingly priced) were amazing. It was SOSOSO yummy and there was such a wide collection of stuff to see, eat and buy. The beer was great too (according to those who drank), and i drank my first sip of alcohol under peer pressure >_< I didnt like it too much but didnt hate it too much either.
Left slightly early to go down to villa park to get tickets for the astonvilla- arsenal match. And i think staying in london for too long makes you think that everything in the world is expensive. We went "so cheap" when the conductor told us that our ticket was only 1.5 for return and he gave us an incredulous stare -_-
When we went to villa park, we realised to our dismay that tics were sold out : ( And we nearly bought from touters (who tried to rip us off for 55pounds). And in the end we managed to get tics for 25pounds from the counter after Jon managed to cajole the counter lady to spare us singapore peeps who flew 7000miles to watch this. We only got single tics but the view was great so no complaints.
The match was absolutely amazing, and definitely worth the trip down (: Villa Park was beautiful, and the crowd was cool (though i wouldnt say very very fantastic).
Arsenal won 2-1!! And i had to stop myself many a times to stop cheering for the wrong team (lest i get whacked). I think its impossible to describe such an atmosphere, unless you are down personally to feel it (:
Dinner at night was cookout back at our lovely service apartment. And it enjoyed it too, im starting to love cooking alot!

Ok, im feeling a little bored of blogging about my trip cos i think describing such a great trip with the very limited vocab i have is not doing it justice >_< haha! But i will update about the Good Food Show in the next post!

For now, i have a short attention spa

Best weekend ever! (:

I had the best weekend ever since I came to London (: And its still making me happy (which has been pretty rare since the weather turned cold.) But, im starting to rediscover the beauty .. or attractiveness of London (I have to admit london is not beautiful but nevertheless, attractive).

Stef came down, mainly for some event though I would think she looked fwd to the visit for that the seminar ;) And its great to have her in town, cos I really miss having close friends around! Plus, I -finally- met up with dear mark, who (to my surprise) said that he was being antisocial as well. Heh, seems like London makes people become hermits eh? But im trying hard now not to, cos i think its not very healthy ... and neither it is to try too hard as well lar. So, currently still testing waters and seeing how things go.

While stef was in london, we went to watch 2 musicals- cabaret and lion king. Both were fantabulastic, though world's apart. The former was almost RA, well there were skin and such ;) (name suggests smthing kinky already, doesnt it!) Though, stef was being very objective about it (thk gdness she didnt start reciting out the parts of the muscles in the theatre!), and I having gone through dj's regime, aint shocked by anything anymore. It was alot better than expected. We have gone in cos we could get stall tickets for 20pounds, and i thought it was worth it and more. The plot was great, singers gd and set amazing!
Lion King was obviously PG-ed, and it was great too, though my favourite/ most anticipated scene (can you feel the love tonight) was out of tune! Harmonizing was wrong :( But otherwise, it was great! Bought tics for dj to join us, but due to some communication error (I didnt bring phone out and hers ran out of batt), her ticket went to waste. But it didnt spoil my mood that much, cos I was really THAT HAPPY during the wkend (((:

We shopped around in leicester square/ chinatown and bought alot of foodie stuff. I finally decided to splurge on tofu (sounds pretty sad ehs! but its a luxury here to me!), and bought soya bean as usual.
In addition, I brought stef to Camden and i totally love that place (in the morning of course. Since, i dont think i like being accosted by punks/ druggies in the night.). Its like a REALLY BIG far east, with random stuff from coats (which stef bought 1 for 35pounds and im planning to go back there to get) to punkish/ goth stuff. And there is like a MASSIVE sainsbury's there which we have classified as an attraction for stef's next visit to london. I cant wait for her to come again! And there is also this amazing food street there, Camden Lock, that has thai, indo, chinese and scandinavian food that looked and kinda tasted alike, but yummy nevertheless (:
I'm hoping that Stef'll come to London to do clinicals, then we can hang out weekly at Camden or go random sightseeing, and I think it would definitely make time more passable for me (:

Stef went back on sunday night, and she msged me on the train to tell me that on her way back, it was snowing outside the train. I can just imagine how beautiful it must have been! It's almost like a scene cut from harry potter. I'm getting jealous! (just that of course, i wont be able to afford a train ticket and would have to rely on national express >_<)

Now I have a whole long list of musicals that i would love to watch. I shall try to limit myself to 1-2 a month or everytime stef comes down. YAYY, suddenly life here aint that bad after all!

But for now ...
It's back to books.

'cos its gonna be exams in 2 weeks ... again.

And weekend's going to be burnt again. But no complaints! ((: I love weekends ... Its my greatest motivation for getting through through the week. JIAYOU PEISH!

Stef's in London.

Well, its unbelievable how Stef coming to London can brighten up my day (well, there isnt much sun here to begin with. and its pitch dark now). I havent been blogging much mainly cos of:

1. Inertia
2. Endless amount of revision: whoever said first year medics are slack should be shot and fried. Well, but i have to admit, its pretty much self- imposed? But isnt it for all courses anyway?
3. Loads of emails and wall posts to reply to on a daily basis: No complaints, since i really look forward to hearing from singapore (or whichever part my friends are from)
4. Skype: Skyping home sure takes up alot of time, and since i do it on a daily basis, it has kinda become a timetabled block.
5. Packing my room, washing dishes, laundry: I now have an idea why there is actually a demand for maids- Household chores sure take ALOT of time, even when my room is puny (well, as are all london rooms)
6. Sleeping: I seem to be sleeping alot and feeling very tired all the time. I have no idea why, but i really hope there is nothing wrong with me.
7. Long dinners: I'm starting to make an effort to start socialising and making friends with my hallmates. Well, its not going to work up for me if I keep holing up in my room, though i really prefer it this way. But social dinners with my hallmates are cool too, since I seem to have found a bunch that Im getting more comfortable with.
8. Socials: Ok, i have to admit, i dont really have many. But when I do, it takes up time too right ;) haha.
9. Crunchyroll/ youtube: I'd rather youtube/ crunchyroll over blog anytime. It's just that im going cold turkey to stop my addiction now.
10. PERPETUAL EXAMS: Exams in 2 weeks (again). Seriously, I feel like im in A level mode all the time. And I'm so looking forward to christmas break ... when I can use the time to .. guess what? Catch up -_-" hahha.

Time to pick up stef from King's Cross. Maybe i can explore and find that random trolley stuck in the wall (:

Update from a reluctant blogger.

My room is in a big mess, it looks like a typhoon ran through it. And probably worse. The only part of it that is presentable is the area where i sleep, 'cos ron is looking down on my bed and i have to make it nice for him. And speaking of which, it isnt all that neat either, just comparatively better than the rest. Everything is relative anyway.

I am in a mess too. I woke up late, like 9.05am for 9am lecture for 2 days straight. And i hope this will not be the start of my not-going-for-lessons on time. I have to find the discipline back :( And a better alarm clock than my konky phone. And yes, my phone is messed up too, it sends out 3 msgs each time I send or doesnt send it out at all. So helpful (: Word of advice: E65 is really unstable, so if you can help it, get another model. Or better, get an asian brand of phone, probably more reliable, with reason.

I'm getting fat cos tests are coming up and its like I becoming some sort of rat. I cannot stop chewing when I'm trying to read. And sometimes, i chew when i am not reading. Which is bad :( I miss my self-discipline!
And yes, the tests are driving me nuts too. I have to admit that I have alot lower tolerance level than NUS/Cambridge kids, and mugging too hard drives me nuts. I cant wait for the break to come and visit Stef!! ((: At least i have something to look forward to (: Cheers to that! <3

Missing Singapore!
And london is getting ALOT colder. I need some sun ... or a Hiro to stop time for me.
Heroes <3 where is mine?

Dj's in Town!

I havent really had the mood to actually update my blog for the past few weeks, ever since I touched down in London. I guess its inertia to start writing.

Dj came to visit me from York yesterday, and we visited Tate Modern with some LSE friends, after which we headed to Bankside Hall (an LSE hall of residence). It was pretty amusing meeting those LSE people 'cos that particular hall wasnt catered (they had to pay extra for meals), so most of the scrimped and saved, which resulted in them having rather sad meals, leaving them perpetually hungry and weight loss. So, i shall not complain about my bad hall food anymore (but i have no idea why, but im starting to find hall food more and more decent. or maybe i have just accustomed myself to the food here.) At least, eating in hall helps me save quite a bit of money ((:
We visited Covent Garden in the morning today, and headed off to Leicester Square (Chinatown), to have lunch at Four Seasons. Dj agrees that the duck is over-rated. But is was still nice food. I finally got my soya sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil and thai fragrant rice which i was lugging all around after that (now my shoulder is aching qte badly). I loved covent garden, its like a nice quaint little place that sold interesting stuff and had street performers lining the street. We spent quite a bit of time strolling around, and enjoying the atmosphere around us. It made me really happy ((: No wonder fengfeng loves that place best.
After lunch, we went down to St Paul's to meet JinPeng, and we were really pretty late :( And unfortunately, by the time we reached, it was too late to enter ('cos i thought it closed at 4.30pm but it was actually 3.30pm). So its like my 2nd time to St Paul's and yet, have been denied entry. So we hung around the outside, taking silly shots but it was great fun anyhow. I love going on such relaxed tourings. (: Hopefully, i would be able to find people here who likes to do such stuff as well!

School has started for 2 weeks, though official lessons only for 1. It hasnt been too busy, and its rather surprising cos my timetable seems to be less packed than the engineers (which is odd.. but a relief to me). Exams for this module are coming up pretty soon, and i hope it wont be too hard, cos im planning to head down to cambridge after that for a short trip, and i wont feel too good if i know that i messed up my exams. Cross my fingers and hope that my brain hasnt rusted!
Tried hockey the other day, and decided that an outdoor sport is just too cold for me. And had rock climbing as well, and it was great fun, just that its really expensive. 12pounds to register. And 4 pounds for transport there and back. In the long run, its going to make me bankrupt, so im just playing around for now and deciding if i should actually commit myself. And rock climbing here is really different from singapore, 'cos most of the rock walls didnt have ropes, so you just climb up and jump down onto the crash mat after that. Interesting eh? I wonder if anyone has broken a rib or leg whilst doing it?

Missing Singapore and everyone back there. (The food too, of course!) But dj's visit to town is making me alot happier, so im loving London. Especially the weather... and dreading winter!
